The Heart, a vital component to every human’s body and a symbol of affection we all recognize. It seems more important than ever to take care of your own life sustaining organ and share your admiration for those in your inner circle and beyond.

I am so grateful for all of the custom pieces I get to work on for you, and sometimes, I need to give myself the space to follow the creative thread into the unknown. This sweet, Copper Heart is the result of that surrender.

“Chasing & Repousse” are ancient metalsmithing techniques used to create three-dimensional forms by hammering sheet metal from both sides, front and back. It is always incredible to see how much a flat piece of metal can transform, move, and take on a much more embodied structure.

What I didn’t realize until I got it on the wall, was that I made a pocket! I love collecting feathers, flowers, and fauna- who doesn’t?! This is such a wonderful and whimsical place to display those found treasures. I couldn’t be more delighted!

For awhile now, I have been wanting to experiment more with small sculpture, so this was a really great day for me. Of course, I want to share the discovery with you…
